The second day of the Agria Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials began with bright sunshine and bright talent taking to the Palace Arena at the iconic Oxfordshire venue.
The action got underway early with riders competing across the two competitions, the Agria CCI4*-L and CCI4*-S GFS Saddles 8 & 9 Year Old Class.
At the end of day one, young Australian rider Oliver Barratt was in prime position in the Agria CCI4*-L dressage, a spot he has held today as of the mid-day break. But, in a shake-up of the leaderboard, Team GB stalwart Tom McEwen has been bumped to third position, with his ride The Fieldmaster, with second position now a firm foothold for New Zealand rider Jesse Campbell with Speedwell.
McEwen’s prime position in the CCI4*-S has also been usurped by his British teammate Bubby Upton, on her ride Auckland 7, with a 26.9 score. It is in fact a British one, two, three in the GFS Saddles 8 & 9 Year Old class at lunchtime, with Bubby and Tom closely followed by Izzy Taylor and her ride Barrington Boy.
The action continues this afternoon, with dressage across the Agria CCI4*-L and GFS Saddles 8 & 9 Year Old CCI4*-S, as well as the Pony Club 100cm and 90cm evoke™ Eventer Challenge, the Connolly RED MILL’s RoR Dressage Championship classes and Tattersalls RoR ridden showing classes.
