It was a showcase of future eventing stars in the GFS Saddles 8 & 9 Year Old Class, where New Zealand’s Samantha Lissington delivered a performance worthy of the spotlight. Riding her elegant grey 2016 gelding Qantas R, owned by The High Flyers Syndicate, Lissington produced a masterclass from start to finish to claim a decisive victory.

The competition was fierce over David Evans’ expertly designed cross-country course, but it was Lissington’s precision and composure that made all the difference. Qantas R cruised home to finish on their exceptional dressage score of 22.4 a textbook finish that reflected true partnership and class.

Hot on their heels, Gemma Stevens and Cooley Park Muze delivered an impressive round, adding just 2.9 time faults to their score to hold onto second place. Sarah Bullimore and Corimiro followed closely in third, only 4.5 penalties adrift, rounding off a high-calibre leaderboard that showcased the remarkable depth of talent in this division.

The GFS Saddles 8 & 9 Year Old Class continues to highlight the stars of tomorrow horses and riders poised to make their mark on the international stage. As the curtain falls on this year’s action, excitement is already building for what lies ahead.
