The 2025 Agria FEI European Eventing Championship at Blenheim Palace (GBR) is the 37th since the classification began 72 years ago in 1953, the 12th to be held in Great Britain and the second at Blenheim. Great Britain are reigning team champions and Rosalind Canter riding Lordships Graffalo (GBR) holds the individual title.
Great Britain is the most successful nation in this classification, with 24 team golds, and has made a clean sweep of the individual medals seven times; Germany has 6 team golds and took all three individual medals in 2011; Russia has 3 team golds, Sweden 2 and Ireland 1.
The individual title has been won by a British rider 20 times; Germany has 6 individual titles; France has 3; Ireland and Switzerland 2; Poland, Denmark and Russia 1.
The ratio of women to men winning the individual title is 19:17.
Eddy Stibbe, who competed for the Netherlands, holds the record for most European Championship appearances – 12; William Fox-Pitt (GBR) and Ingrid Klimke (GER) made 10 each.
Ginny Elliot (GBR) and Michael Jung (GER) have both won three successive European titles on three different horses: Elliot in 1985 (Priceless), 1987 (Night Cap) and 1989 (Master Craftsman) and Jung in 2011 (La Biosthetique Sam), 2013 (Halunke) and 2015 (FischerTakinou).
Lucinda Prior-Palmer (Green, GBR) was the first rider to win her title back (1975-77), on Be Fair and George; Pippa Funnell (GBR) was the first to win back-to-back titles on the same horse, Supreme Rock (1999 and 2001); Ingrid Klimke (GER) achieved the same feat in 2017 and 2019 on Hale Bob; Nicolas Touzaint (FRA) won the title twice on the same horse, Galan de Sauvagere, four years apart (2003 and 2007).
Mary Gordon Watson (GBR) is the youngest individual winner of a European title; she was 19 in 1969; Ingrid Klimke (GER) is the oldest, at 51 in 2019.

Four horses have won four European gold medals: Kilbarry (Frank Weldon, GBR), Supreme Rock (Pippa Funnell, GBR), Over To You (Jeanette Brakewell, GBR) in four consecutive European championships; Hale Bob (Ingrid Klimke, GER) won four gold medals across three consecutive European championships.
Only four horses have held World and European titles simultaneously: Cornishman V (Mary Gordon Watson, 1969-70); Priceless (Ginny Holgate, 1985-86); Toytown (Zara Phillips, 2005-06); La Biosthetique Sam (Michael Jung, 2010-2011). Sam is distinguished by also capturing the Olympic title, in 2012.
In 2009, Juan Carlos Garcia (ITA) made history by winning team silver medals in both Eventing and Jumping; his team mate Susanna Bordone (ITA) represented her country in both Eventing and Dressage.
